Behind The Scenes | Southern Weddings V511.14.12

Back in July, I had the pleasure of shooting some behind the scenes images for the newest issue of Southern Weddings Magazine. Here are a few of my favorites. And by “few” I mean “lots” because this shoot was CRAZY beautiful and it was really hard to narrow it down. I have no idea how those wonderful women manage to do it every single day!!

A little peek at what I can safely say is one of my favorite family sessions of all time. Just look at that light (filtered through the branches of the grapefruit trees around us) and those bouncy blond curls. This sweet family sings “You Are My Sunshine” every night before bed and I can’t imagine a more perfect lullaby for them.

Doesn’t that sound romantic? Disappearing Island. Like something from a mysterious, magical paradise. But really it’s just an ordinary, dog-friendly, tiny little sandbar near New Smyrna Beach.

We spent this past Sunday there, soaking up (a little too much) sunshine and enjoying shades of blue-green usually reserved for tropical islands hundreds of miles south of here.

The past few weeks have been rough for the Bailey household. We were hit by a sick that wouldn’t quit – I’m talking pneumonia, some kind of croupy cough, green eye crust. And that was just the kids.

Luckily, everyone seems to be turning the corner. Smiling faces, healthy appetites. Definitely a change worth celebrating. We chose to do it with cupcakes.

Peanut butter (probably the family favorite…who can possibly resist that teeny tiny peanut butter cup on top?), marble, s’mores and coconut cream. Every bite completely delicious.

If you are in Orlando or Jacksonville, I highly recommend stopping by Sweet! by Good Golly Miss Holly. Especially on a Monday, when they sell their delicious minis for a buck. I promise it will be the best dollar you spend all day.
